Millennials will make up 75 percent of the workforce by 2025, according to PwC, and this year marked the inflection point in that journey. As of 2016, Millennials, defined as those who reached young adulthood around the year 2000, are now the largest living generation, according to the latest population estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau. Following close on their heels, Generation X is projected to surpass Baby Boomers in population by 2028.

Civilogistix is not taking these facts lightly. We have strategically designed our culture and compensation structure around these changing demographics to provide an entrepreneurial environment with the perks of a startup and the benefits of an established organization. Civilogistix is confident that Millennials will play a critical role in the business and technical world as we move forward, and we’re prepared to accommodate the specific needs of this generation to foster their creative growth within our company.

“We have done a significant amount of research to structure an engineering organization around these changing demographics,” says David White, Founding Partner of Atlanta based Civilogistix, “and the institutional quality of our work and employee engagement is proof that our alignment of incentives is working.”

The “work-til’-you-die” structure our grandparents built their lives around doesn’t provide the environment necessary for Millennials to thrive. Despite being called selfish by some, this upcoming generation is known for their fresh ideas, tech-savvy knowledge, and adaptability. Along with their unique skill set comes different expectations, and businesses must be inventive in order to remain a competitive and sought-after workplace.

Millennials are bringing new ideas to the concept of work-life balance and transforming the hierarchical relationship between employers and employees into a more collaborative system. They believe that the company to which they dedicate their hard work and time should provide consistent opportunities to grow and learn, and we agree. Civilogistix is focused on providing a fun, engaging atmosphere that fosters career growth for our employees. This can mean team outings, company ‘swag’, work from home options, and the opportunity for hands-on experience in the field.

As the legendary Bob Dylan said, “The times they are a changin’”. We have structured our company in preparation for the influx of Millennials into the workforce, bringing their entrepreneurial mindset, innovative ideas, and critical thinking skills. We just hope they’re ready for a new type of workplace with a dynamic team at Civilogistix.
